Just ONE Loss in last 12 Years! Nifty From 2012 to 2023

This will be a very short post. Here is a list of Nifty50 returns during the last 12 years.

  • 2012: +27.7%
  • 2013: +6.8%
  • 2014: +31.4%
  • 2015: – 4.1%
  • 2016: +3.0%
  • 2017: +28.6%
  • 2018: +3.2%
  • 2019: +12.0%
  • 2020: +14.9%
  • 2021: +24.1%
  • 2022: +4.3%
  • 2023: +20.0%

I am sure you have noticed something – that at the index Nifty level – In last 12 years, we have had just one negative year!

And that is a remarkable level of wealth creation in last decade or so. The past performance may not be repeated, but this is something that I wanted to highlight.

From Nifty 6304 on 31-Dec-2013, we have come up to 21731 on 29-Dec-2023. That’s a CAGR of 13.17% in last 10 years. And if we rewind back 20 years to 31-Dec-2003, then Nifty was at 1879.75 and we have had a CAGR of almost 13.0% in last 20 years!

Not bad at all. Isn’t it?
