There are several international funds available in India via different AMCs. As the name suggests, these International funds are primarily equity funds that invest in stocks of foreign companies listed outside of India.
These are also known as Overseas Funds or Foreign Funds and helps Indian investors to take advantage of global stock markets and have geographical diversification in their mutual fund portfolios. Generally, there are 3 types of International Funds
- Global Funds – These invest in stocks around the world including the country in which the investor resides.
- Regional Funds – These invest in companies from a specific geographical region. For example – A fund can invest in stocks in different countries in the South-Asian region.
- Country Funds – These invest in stocks in only one foreign country.
