Let’s compare the Overlaps between major indices of Nifty50, Next50, Nifty100 and Nifty500.
How to read this table?
- There is an 81% overlap in the portfolios of Nifty50 and Nifty100. This is not the overlap of just the number of stocks (obviously, all 50 stocks of Nifty50 are part of Nifty100). Rather, this is a portfolio stock allocation level overlap.
- Similarly, there is a 58% overlap in the portfolios of Nifty50 and Nifty500.
- Similarly, there is a 71% overlap in the portfolios of Nifty100 and Nifty500.
- And what about the loved/hated Nifty Next 50? The Next50 index has 17% overlap with Nifty100, and also, (Next50 has) 12% overlap with Nifty500.
